In this article, the authors have compared the three emerging types of positive leadership that highlight moral and ethical behaviour along with transformational leadership. As per the authors, the three types of positive leadership are ethical leadership, authentic leadership and servant leadership. The authors argue that instead of a presence of conceptual overlap between the three forms of positive leadership and transformational leadership, there is an existing incremental variance in the different forms of positive leadership that are beyond transformational leadership. For supporting the argument the authors have carried out an extensive meta-analysis, utilizing exhaustive list of research articles and journals for providing a comprehensive evaluation of the three forms of positive leadership, abiding by the quantitative research design.


The result of the meta-analysis indicates the presence of a higher correlation between the servant, ethical and authentic leadership and transformational leadership (Hoch et al., 2018). The high correlation between ethical and authentic leadership and transformational leadership conjointly with the lower incremental variance indicates a low utility, which is a significant contribution of the paper. The research indicates that a more stand-alone approach of leadership is the servant leadership which is much powerful to help the leading practitioners and researchers to give the explanation using a broad array of outcomes. According to Hoch et al. (2018), there is an existing gap in the transformational leadership which can be filled up with the help of the three forms of positive leadership. The limitation of the study is that the research has been carried out using the existent data that were more significant to the servant and authentic leadership than that of the ethical leadership.
